I spoke about our society and where the LOVE has gone in our society for our parents at a TV interview recently. I notice too, the way children perceive parents on TV in some children’s shows or teen shows, where parents are portrayed as “clownish”, silly, or people who just don’t get them. Humourous as it seems, this can lead to an unconscious disrespect for parents in the future. Its time to re-educate ourselves on why we perceive parents as they do and the source of miscommunication we get about them. Likewise, as parents, we too must educate ourselves on proper parenting as this leads to our relationships with our children in the future.
In any case, enjoy this interview that I did on Hello on Two on RTM2 a week ago where I did mention about the interview I had with some senior citizens I met at a lovely home in Kajang, Ruman Pengasih Warga Prihatin. Mdm Siti Zaharah and Mr Md Alias (aged 64 and 86 respectively at the time when I met them) told me, they are indeed happy to be at a home where there are people respecting them and loving them and taking care of their needs. What they just want in their old age (besides having the basics like shelter and food) are to be LOVED & RESPECTED. Simple yet powerful reminder for us to keep on giving others that and to spread the importance of LOVE & RESPECT.
